Your questions, answered.
How do I become a yoga teacher with House of Zen?
Choose the Portugal or Sri Lanka 200-hour training, agree any individual arrangements with Gem, attend the required hours and complete the teaching and written assessments. Successful completion leads to a 200-hour certificate. Yoga Alliance registration, insurance and employer requirements are separate.
Do I need teaching experience or advanced yoga poses?
Previous teaching experience and advanced postures are not required. A regular yoga practice, a willingness to study and participation in the course are important. Contact Gem to discuss your experience and any learning or access needs before booking.
What is the difference between the Portugal and Sri Lanka training?
Sri Lanka's residential training runs for 23 days in Hikkaduwa, 5–27 November 2026, with a maximum of ten trainees and a hybrid route agreed with Gem. Portugal's residential training runs for 25 days at The Far End Surf House near Lourinhã, 4–28 October 2027. Prices, accommodation, inclusions and cancellation terms differ; consult each destination page.
Is the 30-hour Creative Sequencing course a teacher qualification?
No. Creative Sequencing develops sequencing and class-planning skills but does not replace an initial 200-hour qualification. Eligible, already-qualified Yoga Alliance teachers may use it for continuing education, subject to the requirements explained on the Portugal page.
